Criminal Law

With a strong background in criminal law, I ensure that my clients’ constitutional rights are protected and enforced. I represent people facing criminal charge ranging from misdemeanors to felonies to Measure 11 charges to Capital murder. Every case deserves and receives a strong defense. With experience as a prosecutor and defense attorney, I provide my clients the defense they need and deserve.

Representing clients who face criminal charges requires a strong defense from the beginning. A thorough and independent investigation is critical in establishing what really happened. Preparing a defense requires a strong attack on the government’s case before trial by securing rulings that keep evidence and testimony from being admitted at trial. An attorney who understands and can argue your legal defenses is very important. At trial, a good criminal lawyer will connect with the jury and ensure a fair trial from the beginning. I provide my client with that strong defense.

The reality of criminal defense work is that more than 90% of cases resolve through a negotiated settlement with the government. In order to achieve a favorable outcome at this stage, it is critical to craft a strong defense from the very beginning of the case. It is important to skillfully present and argue defenses to the government’s lawyers. I provide my client with that strong defense and help in achieving favorable outcomes for my clients.

I also work with teams of attorneys on capital defense cases in which our clients face the death penalty. This is a regular part of my practice.
